I LIVE FOR THE DAY AFTER TWO DAYS BEFORE TOMORROW.
Thanks for the confirmation lowclass.
I'm going to try to get my older son (19) to attend, and maybe one of his friends. Not sure about them yet.
The more the better.
I LIVE FOR THE DAY AFTER TWO DAYS BEFORE TOMORROW.
I can't hang on Sunday , but I'm considering Fri-Sat. I regret that my son and I didn't make it down into the canyon last year -- we got our car stuck in the pine needles and mud and hung about a mile from the trail head.
Can anyone else (who has a big truck) make it Friday who can drive in? I'm worried about road conditions from my last experience, but I'd love to make it down there.

Hello dejoha:
I do not have a big truck either. Like you, I have been thinking about road conditions traveling in and out of Maxwell. The roads in this area are known for being muddy (sometimes impassable) in adverse weather.
The current weather seems to be running in the twenties as a low then warming up to the fifties during the day. As a result, I would expect possibly sketchy conditions. I'm not sure what the weather or road conditions will be like by the end of the month.
I was thinking of trying to navigate the road inbound very early Saturday morning at the coldest point in the day, in the hope that colder temperatures might create some freezing with road conditions that could be more acceptable. On the outbound, a similar approach might work late Sunday night or early Monday morning.
During shoulder seasons, I have sometimes timed my travel to run into and out of certain areas "on the ice" and sit-tight during the warmer parts of the day. I'm not sure if the concept will work for you this time. But, it might be something to consider.
I can fit 5 people in my truck cab with reasonable comfort... well for me its always comfortable the driver seat is heated and is bucket style but the rear bench seat is fairly good size and I've put two uncles and a cousin back there before, its an 05 1500 crew cab chevy so draw what conclusions you may. I already have one person riding with me and can take three more. There's also another route into west clear creek I have a map I will try and scan it and post it, last year they closed the route longbow gave a few weeks after the big hf trip so I had to find alternate route. I will also call the forest service this week to find out possible road conditions there and closures and will do the same the in the days leading up to the trip.

Just like last year my attendance will depend on road conditions the weekend of the hang. Dejoha, if road conditions allow I would go Fri-Sat with you.
