New Twist on Adjustable Ridgeline

I have been using a Zing-It whoopie sling for my ridgeline so I can dial in my comfort zone. The problem is when I have it shorter, the excess tail hangs into the hammock and gets in the way.

Remedy: I switched the bury to the tail side of the line. Now, when I go shorter, the tail stays the same length.



Building the Locked Brummel on the other end was a bit of pain but just took a little extra time.

You now have a utility constrictor rope (UCR) on a loop instead of a whoopie sling.

I use the whoopie style on my traveler. Next hammock ill do it ucr style. I always keep the dangly end on the the foot end and just half hitch it up so its never in the way.

You just have to be careful. If you happen to have a fair bit of tension on the RL and you bump the bury somehow, it could slip. Try a small o-ring around the end of the bury where the line exits. It helps to keep that end of the bury from slipping and losing constriction.

Or a prusik knot coming from the tail end around the main line to help hold tention on the other end of the UCR.
