A long time ago.. before underquilts were invented..

I remember everyone trying to find the best system for their hammocks to keep their underneath parts warm. Without mentioning any particular hammocks, I can remember going with a simple cottage industry hammock, to a home made hammock (well several different ones) to a more sophisticated professionally made one, and then back and forth to a few of those, and now, "upgrading" to a pretty expensive one I am purchasing online via this forum. Sooo, is it me changing preferences to find more perfect comfortable one as my old bod seeks to alleviate more aches and pains? Or... am I just brainwashed and sucked into a (gotta have this) kinda addiction, that is beyond remedy??

No deterioration, dysfunction, or illness there - you've just been doing research. The cure, if one were needed, is simple: a good night's sleep.

For me, I only covet something different because I don't have it. I fell in love with hammocks with an el cheapo. Even trying other more expensive ones, with more options they haven't considerably increased the comfort level for me (YMMV). I am still using my Claytor and while sometimes visions of hammocks with sugar plums dance in my head, I have no need (note: different than desire) to "upgrade" since for me (again YMMV) the comfort level does not change (maybe it is my size, I don't know). I also still use ccf when the temps really drop ( I use a LeighLo UQ in summer). The Claytor takes a pad so easily with no loss of comfort often found with other designs. Ok enough rambling from me.

I actually quit using a hammock for a few years after much frustration with pads, etc... then I saw someone using an UQ, upgraded my setup with one purchased from a vendor on this forum, and have been very happy with the hammock ever since!

There's been a lot of thought, trial and error, and effort going into the hammock set up over the past 5 or 6 years. A lot of the old setups do work, but there's a reason for the new stuff. I works very well.

I have only been a hammocker for a little over a year. I have bought 4 Warbonnets (all new) a GT Nano .7 and a custom hammock from Papa Smurf, 2 tarps, 2 UQ's, 1 TQ and have 1 more TQ and UQ in the works, along with the full dutch line...and a number of other miscellaneous items....

Its a good thing I transitioned from a ground U.L-er to this, otherwise I would be more broke then I already am.

No I don't see a problem
