Mine are about 6' all around.

Mine are 9+ feet. I like to have a little extra. I am starting to find fun places to hang. I usually end up with 1 tie out that needs a little extra length.
Is that too much to ask? Girls with frikkin' lasers on their heads?

Next question - if I'm making a 10x10 tarp by sewing 2 5x10 pieces of silnylon together. How many grosgrain tie out points do I need and where should they be located. I was thinking I would put one on each corner and then one in the center of each side for a total of 8. Is that enough? Too many? I figure if I do it this way I can hang the tarp at a diagonal or straight.
For a straight 10' edge (to hang on the square), I might have four each side. One on each corner, then two in between dividing the edge into thirds. Edges that long are hard to keep taut.
Or, you could always make a nice, taut cat-cut hex

I can't find a pic online, but I remember Risk using a long rectangular tarp. He had 2 tie outs on each side. Each tie out was attached to 2 diffferent places on the tarp. Probibly about 3 feet or so apart. That seemed to pull the longer tarp taught without using a lot of tie outs.
Hard to explain in words. Let me know if you need a little more.

T-BACK had that setup at Hot Springs. Pics here.
