    Hello From Salt Lake City

I just bought an ENO Doublenest and I want to hang it in my office. I live in an older home and I am concerned that using eye bolts in a wall stud may damage my house. Do you recommend getting a stand?

I found a good price on a Pawleys Island stand however the width of the stand is 15 feet and my hammock is only 10 feet and my office would better accommodate a 12 or 13 foot stand. Would it be a bad idea to hack a couple feet off the bottom bar that connects the stand together and re-drill the holes?

I'm sorry if my post doesn't fit the theme of this thread. I'm new to hammocking and the forum and didn't know where to post the question.

    Welcome to the site.

As far as damage to your wall stubs, I wouldnt be concerned.
But an option would be to get a piece of 2x6 long enought to span 2 studs. Lagg bolt this to wall with 2 lags into each stud and the put your hook in the middle. Repeat for other end.

Would spread the load over two studs.

Welcome to the forum from Springville UT. This place is a wealth of information. As for for hanging your hammock in an older home, I wouldn't worry about. Many of the older homes in Utah have lath and plaster walls. If you run a good size lag hook directly into the stud, the lath and plaster will help distribute the weight across the wall. You would never damage the structure of the wall. Worst case scenario, you might pull the lag hook out of the wall and leave a hole the size of the hook. Fill the hole with sheet rock mud or even painter's caulk and touch it up with paint. Good as new.

Courage to hang in the places I can, (but probably shouldn’t)
And wisdom to know the difference."

Thank you everyone for the welcome and the information. I will save myself some money and not buy a stand.
