    SOLD: Moonbow Gearskin

I bought this in 2007 for an AT hike. I used it for three days total. I held on to it thinking I'd use it again but never got around to it. I added a mesh pocket to the outside which has a drawstring on top and an elastic band towards the bottom. The pocket was for holding wet crocs after river crossings. The gearskin is in perfect condition and was sized for my back which is 18" and my waist was 38". It weighs 22.1 oz. There is a lot of potential for trimming, based on what you carry and how long the you need each strap to be. The load lifter straps are about 12" longer than they need to be. I added that Punisher patch on there too. I'm asking $100 for the Gearskin. I'll ship it for free USPS Priority Mail to CONUS. Feel free to ask me any questions.

I really like the idea of the Gearskin but is there a way to load it that doesn't have it spread out on the ground?

    Not that I know of.

If you attached it to the underside of your hammock you could load everything in the hammock, undo one end of your suspension, buckle it all up, then undo the other end and tighten it all.

When I was looking on the site, they were going to show it using stuff sacks but still haven't put it up. I like the idea of everything in horizontal stuff sacks, so you can get to anything in the pack during the day without a major unpacking but I can see having to leave the tarp up and a sheet of some kind to lay it on when breaking camp in the rain.

I have a DIY version of this pack and love it. It takes some experimenting to find a loading method that works with your gear, but also allows for many different styles of loading. The straps give many points to attach gear you might want to get to easily.

I forget what I had them make it out of, and I don't know how to identify it myself. I just sent an e-mail to Moonbow with an attached picture asking them to identify it.

When I used it I used the horizontal stuff-sack method. I like being able to have my heaviest bag (food) on the bottom, while still being able to access it quickly.

Use it with apack liner? One of the draws to it though is that your tarp does double duty in lieu of the liner. I guess its a give and take...
