So I was camping this weekend and had to switch to my backup hammock the Eno Doublenest. It was bedtime and I was trying out a suit I wear on the motorcycle in really cold weather. I had the Eno set up with my underquilt hanging right below it. I also had on one of those flight style caps with the fluffy ears. I was set for some cold weather hanging. So I pull down the front of my Eno, reach back and grab the top to pull it back and proceeded to mount up. That's when I realized that I was going over backwards. I did a one and a half gainer with a full twist before hitting the ground. I am sure that it looked like one of those Messing with Sasquatch commercials and I had to just lay there for a few minutes and get my breath back.
So to cut to the chase, when reaching back to pull your hammock out for entry make sure you are grabbing your hammock and not the underquilt. It occurred to me that I had missed the hammock and got the underquilt as I was laying there staring up at the hammock I should have been laying in.
