can you add something in between the uq and hammock to give you more warmth? hoping to use the jarbridge uq in the winter.

probably not as comfy, but shouldn't you be able to use a pad inside the hammock to extend the range of your UQ? Hope more experienced hangers chime in... this is something I'm interested in too

my hubby regularly uses a humongus heavy sleeping bag inside his BB to sleep on top of and on the outside will be an IX (3 layer) under quilt. He is only laying on the sleeping bag and it's one of those older types that weighs like a ton and will not squish down at all. This is only for car camping type trips. Sometimes he will also add a poncho liner on the outside around the IX quilt. It just depends on how cold it is.

You can actually sandwich one of those emergency blankets between the hammock and uq with quite a bit of success. I have done this before and immediately felt a warmth difference.

Adding a blocking layer to the outside to remove any loss from air movement (wind) is one if there is indeed any air movement.

Like a hammock sock or an underquilt protector (something very wind resistant). The space blanket between the UQ and the hammock works quite well too.

    Cheers

my jarbridge uq is not full length, so I would have to suspend the emergency blanket (red an silver with grommets) somehow. could I put the blanket inside the hammock?

Girtotgo, I used my Summer Jarbridge River about 6 weeks ago in temps in the low 30s. I placed a emergency blanket between the UQ and the hammock. Though I also used a thin 1/8" pad, I had no problem, and slept pretty well, even though it was the first time I had ever slept with a pad in the hammock.

To get more warmth from my UQ i cut up some closed cell foam pads that are also used as my backpack support or seats around the camp fire. When night comes i lay them length wise in the hammock. its been working great!
