quick question, Dutch; will these fit 3/32 AND 1/8 shock cord?
appears as you have the uq hung that these make triangle-thingies obsolete.. that's how i see it anyway..

In an earlier thread I mentioned 6-packs of items sold in dollar stores as "waist-band extenders", which they are not.
What they are are temporary buttons mounted on posts, backed with springy squeeze-grips, like earings and many clothing-decorative pins.
I mention them here, again, because some of you who will be sewing on Dutch's quilt hooks will wonder just where to sew them for optimal benefit. Poking a pair of these temporary pins over which to run your suspension lines will allow you experiment with the best location for the quilt hooks.
I would use backing of multiple fabric layers or a tab of grosgrain in sewing on hooks, part of good tailoring practice.
ISTM Dutch's quilt hooks are part of an approach to successful draft-stopping and UQ suspension, but not a substitute. Routing suspension lines doesn't specify their relative lengths and tensions, which is possible with Hangnout's original approach.
For sewn on the hammock....
I tried to make them for 1/8th since that is almost all the quilt suspensions I see. However not all shockcord is the same and some actually get skinnier depending on how much they are stretched. These are aluminum and you can almost bend them by squeezing them between your fingers. And you can definately adjust then to the thickness thaat works best for you. You just want to make it so it clicks in.
For on the suspension it is the same thing. You may have to adjust the gap of the hook but the back is tapered to grap thinner shockcord.

Just ordered a set. I am looking forward to keeping my quilt in place on a cold winter's night.
The only thing with this is, the size of you quilt and hammock must be a pretty good match and most don't. The bigger difference between the quilt and the further I put the hook away from the quilt. Such as teh left should and right foot are very close to the quilt and the right shoulder and left foot it is further away allowing the quilt to come off the hem a couple inches and have the forgiveness of the shock cord.
Both you guys are gurus andn will probably see something I am missing though.
Peace Dutch

I just started a thread about how I did it.
My quilt hooks arrived today 1pm GMT. Guess what I'll be doing Sunday morning and just in time for a coldish snap too.
Many thanks Dutch for the idea and execution.
Alan
I recieved a set of 4 quilt hooks this week in the mail and so having the time, I spent about 45 minutes using nylon thread and sewed them to my WB Traveler Single 1.7 thru the edge hem at all 4 corners of hammock as all my UQ are basically the same size, and I am really impressed by the way they hold the UQ in place. They work perfect and are super easy to install and will definitely be buying a set for every hammock for the wife and me to use. I was in such a hurry to try these out that I didn't install them Sgt. Rocks way and will do so on the next install as I want to see how they work also that way and am sure its a excellent way to use them. Dutch as such neat ideas and equipment for making our hangs and hammocking sleeping so much more enjoyable and these are well worth having. Great piece of gear!
