My way to keep my Thermarest in place

I found a personal solution to prevent my Thermarest from slipping away in the hammock during i try to sleep on it.

I sewed a "pad-holder" and attached buttons on each corner and in the middle of its length.

I figured out the way i sleep in the hammock and marked places for the connections. On both sides of the fabric of the hammock I added self-adhesive nylon-patches to strengthen the textil. There i added belt-straps as a connection to the buttons.

All the sewed connections are made with a strong yarn.

The holder is large enough to carry a thick winter-pad and i will test it during the following winter. It has already worked for me several nights.

Nice work! I've been thinking of doing something similar on the outside of my hammock for my UQ. I like the adhesive patches, you'll have to report back on how well this holds up long term.

I assume that your hammock is a single layer? I like the idea. Tried pads a few times but not sold on them but ideas like this have me wanting to try again.

I will post an update on how it works in the long term. Yes, it is a single layer hammock. I also thought about to add a second layer but then I decided to do it this way.

That is certainly one way to get the job done. I have seen others use silicone in a number of lines along the bottom of the pad. Once cured, they provide grip to the pad which prevents it from sliding around in the hammock.

Super cool got me thinking about some Velcro to do the same thing? Let us know the long term

I made two straps out of 3" rip-stop that go around my Exped 7UL downmat pad with a patch of Velcro on the bottom of each strap. Then I sewed patches of Velcro on the bottom of my hammock so the pad would lay at a good diagonal. It holds the pad in place just fine. However, I used sticky-backed Velcro on the hammock to get them placed just right before I sewed them on. It gummed-up my wife's sewing machine and she is still mad at me.
