Seems like I saw that in a photo gallery submission to a back issue of Fine Woodworking. Sometimes wish I'd bought the searchable back issue CD.
Dude has skills! Something tells me that what looks like a very ornamental spar and rib assembly is actually a structurally significant part of the design that is pre-loaded to resist the rocking motion of the hammock. He would have had to buffer any of the sliding joinery with teflon or something similar for sound considerations but it would be simple compared to the joinery scheme of that center spar. That just makes my brain hurt looking at it.
