ENO Doublenest or Hennessy A Sym Zip.

I narrowed it down to the ENO or Hennessey after some research. Whats your thoughts on these 2 hammocks. The one thing with the ENO is you have to buy a bug net and fly for it but you can pick the size of the fly. The hennessy is a complete package. Almost down to a coin flip.

Big fan of the Eno Dn, own three of them, very comfy, don't have to mess with big net if I don't want to.

For a beginning setup, its hard to beat the HH. Its a different lay, too. I would say its better than the nest, but that's subjective. I've only layed in a Dnest, I don't own one... Lots of extra material on the dnest bothered me - seems like that would make it difficult to have a net attached. Might do better with a headnet when needed, which isn't often in the mountains. The regular net on either does add some warmth, though.

I guess it might be more of a modular question... the cheaper/lighter nest allows you to be modular with your equipment, which over the long run can be a good thing. For a new hanger, perhaps not. Although, you can certainly change out anything on the HH, too (just more initial sunk cost).

Hennessy.

You can call them rather than just place your order on the internet, and ask them to change out tarps for the difference in price. It comes with the "complete setup" as you've said. Bug net, tarp, etc... and you can unzip and flip the bug netting over on the asym zip I'd assume, if you didn't want it.

Much easier than having a completely seperate, standalone bug net.

It really depends on your height. If you are over 5'10" tall, I would consider going to the ENO double. I have a hennessey and If I was taller than my current 5' 10" I would not own it.

I had a eno double and went to a HH ultralite BPer zip. I love the HH.the bug net it awesome. The HH is way cheaper in the log run for the whole set up compared to the eno set up.

I prefer the HH for comfort and lay. You need to check the different HH models. The Explorer is bigger than the Expedition and I would definitely recommend the Explorer over the Expedition because the bigger size sure is nice and much more comfortable. I love the Deep Jungle and the Ultra Light is nice. Just my $.02, hope it helps.

I am just shy of 6' and i have a Hennessy UL Backpacker. I have found the Hennessy fine for my size (about 170 lb). So far, the only complaint (if you can call it that) is the size of the stock fly. I wish it was a little larger, or maybe a hex. I also have the Supershelter insulation kit which i used for the first time last week in 30-34F temps and it was fine, although that may be about as cold as it can handle, depending on the rest of your setup. (I used only a 20F quilt with the SS).

I have the birth canal entry, so i cant speak to the zipper, but i dont tend to lounge about in it either. If i was hanging around camp waiting on weather to clear for an ascent, i would probably prefer the zip to use it as a chair, etc. I have the original version mainly for the simplicity and bullet-proof function.

Kind of depends on why you're using it? Backpacking, car camping, boating, etc. might make a difference.

I'm 6'/260lb. and own a DN. A flat lay is not possible for me in it. I can sleep in it but not flat. If it were a longer hammock it may be great. I am looking for the next hammock. YMMV.
