I'm at a conference on the island of Maui in Hawaii (yes, I can hear the groans of sympathy from here...) and visited a road-side "Crafts Fair" that is mostly loaded up with tourist tchatchke. But on a table was a pile of hammocks, appeared to be of the parachute silk variety, with a label that introduces a novel idea for a hammock stand and tarp!

Ah Hawaii. All the investigators from my lab were in Hawaii a couple weeks ago for a conference. I was pretty jealous, but at least we got to work in peace and quiet for once. Didn't get crazy enough to hang a hammock in the lab tho, as much as I'd love to!

I've had this idea of hiring a Sherpa for some time. No, he wouldn't carry my backpack. But he would stand beside my hammock all night and gently keep it rocking from side to side.
