Any opinions on a Friday night arrival vs Satruday AM? I can see where some of the real local locals (like me) could show up Friday PM and set things up.

What about remote parking and hiking in vs car base camp and loop hiking?

Two campgrounds with each group hiking towards each other, meet in the middle, go to switchblades and zip guns, and the survivors split up the gear?
I am good with a group hang on the weekend of March 23-25th. Shall we make it a tentative date?

If there are no objections, maybe we should.

My principal concern with Brazos Bend is if we don't have enough folks to reserve the entire site, then we're on a first come-first serve basis, and that might not work out well.

I do think that the primitive site in the Equestrian trial area might be less popular than the one in the park proper, so we may have a better chance.

I found out late Friday that I'll be out of work for a couple of weeks, so I'm going to have time to swing by the park, introduce myself, take a look at that site, and maybe some pictures. I don't m ind the smell of horse manure (I live in the country), but some may have a problem with it, and I want to make sure it isn't laying all around the site.

In the mean time, can we say that the 24th is the date, but the site may be chosen in a week or so?

I know Mr. Bablefish5 has been on the LSHT and may have some suggestions. The only caveat I have there is that at least one campsite on the trail has been closed to remove dead trees and that tree removal is an on going effort. The drought has done a number on the pine trees in this neck of the woods.

I'm new to Houston and to hammocks and would be interested in this trip. I havent had a chance to get out to the woods since I have been here and am looking forward to getting away from the big city. I still havent bought a hammock yet, but I would imagine that I could get one and take it for a test drive before then.

Welcome aboard! As this gets closer, shout if you are in need of something to test drive. I'm sure there are several of us that have a spare that you could try.

Sounds good to me. In fact, I may invite some of our Youth Group and Young Adult Ministry folks to try to get some of them off the ground.
