I solved my personal HH/WBBB dilemma

I tried the WBBB and was never totally satisfied with it, it is well made, and has great features, but ultimately not the hammock for me. The Hennessy was not either. The pros for the BB were the adjustable webbing, and the shelf. The cons for the BB were I could not get a comfortable lay with out elevating my feet so high that I could not keep them warm. The pros for the HH were I always had a comfortable lay. The cons for the HH were no shelf, and the suspension. After much thought, and experimenting I do believe I found my solution. I switched the stock HH suspension to the WB adjustable webbing, which left the lack of shelf. I take a fair amount of stuff in the hammock especially when it is below 40. One night while wrestling with said stuff I was fed up and going to put it out side the hammock, and try the WB again. As I unzipped the net and separated the under cover from the top cover, it hit me. I stuffed the extra gear in the under cover, and later retrieved it as needed After several more nights of this I have traded my WB hammocks off, and now I am quite happy with my setups. I just thought I would share my results, and do not wish to start another HH/WB debate, merely share my findings. I also do not have the condensation issues that some have with the SS either.

Not to rehash the HH/WB thread but I'm right there with you. I've had a HH UL Explorer for about 6 years now. At first I really couldn't stand it and was very disappointed so it sat in the bottom of my gear pile (cold butt didn't help). Then about 2 years ago I met a guy on the AT that had done the zipper mod....this inspired me to give it another shot. Next I discovered HF and it's been uphill ever since.

So, now with my 2QZQ mod, whoopies, and a few extra ridgeline organizers, and a big tarp I thought my rig was pretty awesome. Then...came the WBBB. I read review after review of how great they are so I just had to know. I borrowed my friends hammock and dangled in it this weekend and I liked it.

Knowing what I know now about both setups....if I were to buy a brand new hammock from scratch it would probably be a WBBB 1.1 double and swap it to whoopies. Do I want one bad enough to sell off my HH to get one.....No. I like what I've done to my rig and it suits me well. So I'll continue to Hang my own hang.

One day, maybe a WBBB will fall into my lap at a good price and I'll have some more variety to my loan closet.

The ah-ha moments are great. My hammock moment like that is when I realized I could pull one side of my tarp lower to the ground than the other side. For me I felt like Homer Simpson going "duh" but I had to learn it myself.
    Glad you kept experimenting.
