My HF screen name is a definitive portrayal of me in words.
I am an old beat-up(by cars) Biker that has done tattoos for the past 40 sum years, and now has OA in my thumbs and hip, that keeps me from riding or tatting or just about anything important with my hands (no grip) . Lookout pickle jars.
So I turned to my first love as a kid, the great outdoors. The ground is too far away for me to sleep on it. I can hang my hammock to fit my butt. I can take my time getting there and stay until I want to leave.
I have to look at all of the things I CAN do, and this looks like the place that I will have plenty of help doing just that.

    ONT
These past few years getting used to not getting up and going to work is the hardest thing I've had to do.
It's a great thing they invented grandchildren is all I can say.

About 15 years ago I was new to Yahoo and trying to figure out an email address to use. I had just read "Kilo Class", an excellent submarine novel by Patrick Robinson, and there was a character I liked named Commander Boomer Dunning.

Well, "Boomer" was taken (same here on HF), so I added the "BigBad", hence "BigBadBoomer" - it stuck.

Side note, later found out Boomer is the Australian nickname for a kangeroo - guess that makes me a big bad kangeroo...

It has no special meaning, it is an abbreviation of a literal translation into English of my (Dutch) name. So its basically an anonymised version of my real name.

Mine has a double meaning. In 1977, during my USN days, a cpl of buddies & I decided to summit Mt. Fuji while we were in Japan. At the base, I bought a wood hiking staff which could be branded at specific elevations during the climb. About 3/4 of the way up (day 2), we took an extended break for lunch & I was just standing there leaning on the staff while enjoying the awesome view. Just before we continued, one of the guys yelled, "Hey, Tripod.....we're heading for the top!" Thus, my moniker was born. Advance to approx. 1988.......My wife & kids brought a stray cat in that had been hanging around for a few days & George became part of the family. He was hit by a car in 1992 & we decided to spend the $ to have his right front leg removed, instead of putting him down. I started affectionately started calling him 'Tripod'. So, I use Tri-Pod Bob in memory of good memories!
