Comes from 2 places: an old pal from Eve:Online had the handle NOM4D. I've always liked the way that looks...also, my favorite Sci-Fi writer Alastair Reynolds published a book of short stories called Galactic North.

Kayaking and then later building traditional Greenland kayaks being my first love, I picked the Inuit word qaannat which is plural for qajaq.

Being in a skin-on-frame qajaq is remarkably similar to being in a hammock that can travel through the water, a much softer feel and intimate connection with the water than being in a hardshell kayak, same as being in a hammock is a softer way to be in the environment than laying on the ground in a t**t.

Rob Anybody is a caracter in a book written by Terry Pratchett, called The Wee Free Men, from the Discworld series.
The Wee Free Men let me think of Scottish fighters from long ago, always in for a quarrel...

I've always thought of "acquiring" a camping/trail name but nothing fit, ah well. It will come. For now this is my name...

My screen name started in gaming, and was originally Sphinxxx, which is my initials, SPH, IN, XXX. Kinda dirty joke.
I always wanted a good nickname to stick to me but its not something one can force.
My favorite so far is Rocks, because i obsessively throw or skip rocks at every opportunity...but that name was given too me by some locals i worked with in Hawaii and didn't follow me to the mainland.
My hispanic coworkers lovingly call me Frijolero, which is hilarious but not the most appropriate screen name hahaha.
