My HF name came from a nickname a friend gave me years and years ago. It's better than using chickening which is a nickname I had for a while after a cop chicken winged me to handcuff me......long story.

The 116 is the hull number of the ship I was stationed on in Japan before we decommissioned it, and as a joke my buddies and I in 1st Division called each other "Boats," short for Boatswain mate. We were mostly teenagers then, newly enlisted and most of us were not staying in the Navy after our enlistments were over.
The ship is still mothballed in Pearl Harbor. I got a sea bag in boot camp and bought another on base in Japan. I used the bags for hiking until one month ago when I bought a real hiking bag.

When I worked at GD in SoCal, '80s, I took a winter camping class at the REI store in San Dimas then.
He taught to go to a closed campground covered in snow and practice snow camping. If you had a problem, you just go to your car.
My co-workers thought I was nuts, snow camping on purpose.

I collect vintage camp stoves.
I roast coffee at home.
Mine's pretty simple. I was born and raised in Texas. Moved away just before my 40th birthday. Spent 3 years in CT, 4 years in IL, and now almost 4 in GA. We've had a great time in all of them, but they're just not home.
Tinfoil is political and 320 is religious so I can't say. It's a secret sorry.

rob317. I'm Rob, and I live in the 317 area code. Original, and super well thought... I know. Back in the day I went by an alias that I no longer use. It just got really weird meeting people in real life, and hearing people call out "Blackacid!" all the time. lol.
Maybe one day I'll earn myself a trail name. I need to hit the trail more...
I think it's my Higher Power's sense of humor to give me the body of a mini power athlete with short legs, extra long torso with squared shoulders, and arms shorter than a person my size. Then he gave me a keen sense of hearing and smell.
Growing up I always gravitated towards miniature Dachshunds and Bassets Hounds. I see them and I see me with those short legs, long torso, and stalky build.
Hopefully one day, I'll master the one Yoda trait they have, staying in the moment.
