long time Lurker and New to Nashville area and Hammock camping

    Hi everyone,
Long time lurker and now ready to dive in. I just move to the Nashville area and want to get into Hammocks. I am a stomach sleeper. so my thoughts are to try a bridge hammock. unfortunately i have no idea on where i could try one here. something like the WBRR is my initial thought. love to meet some people or groups to learn and get info, try out a bridge style hammock and make new friends too.

    Thanks LEE

You can try hammocks at a group hang. And you can try lounging in a gathered end hammock—minimum 11 feet long.
Many stomach sleepers have been ok with sleeping on their back in hammocks.

    Regardless, welcome to the fun.

There are group hangs listed on Hammock Forums.
If none in your area, venture out to nearest group hangs.
I would not recommend overnight camping at a winter or frozen butt hang—it might be too cold for a new hammock camper.

There are spring hangs that you can go to, but you might have to drive.

You can start your own group hang near where you live. If you post it—I guarantee people will come.
Start small and you will be happiest.

If you do not feel ready to camp in freezing weather, you can always visit a winter hang as a day camper. You will see all kinds of hammocks, tarps and insulation. Prepare to drink coffee and swap mostly true stories round campfire

I used to be a stomach sleeper in beds, but now that I'm full time in a hammock, I sleep on my side. If I pull my knee up, it's supported by the hammock fabric on the side and kind of gives the same feel as being on your stomach.
We sometimes have group hangs in the Bankhead NF (Sipsey Wilderness) in central AL. Depending on which side of Nashville you are on, it might not be too far of a drive for you. PG is correct: if you plan it, they will come! Even if it's just a few other hangers, the common interests will have y'all chatting like old buddies.
