There is a group of men I went to college with and we paddle for a week over memorial day every year. Next year will make our 36th annual trip. We have paddled in nine states, 25 different rivers. There are twelve of us, and going to college in the late 60's and early 70's we dubbed ourselves the "canoebie brothers" after the infamous doobie brothers. Thus my screen name.

I also have a guide and outfitting business on the side and paddle a bunch each year. I do love my canoes.

Mine is an acronym as well as a play on words in German:

As a ambitioned diver I use regularly a breathing mix (TRIMIX)
consisting of nitrogen, helium and oxygen; respectively
    "Stickstoff", "Helium" and "Sauerstoff".

    _[:}@)

The fun part is, the first letters add to an existing word.

    "sticheln" means to tease somebody.
"Sau" is a pig - or in this context sbd annoyingly doing the former.

    No meaning implied either...

Mine is a combination of two of the things I think most define me.....my love of South Dakota (sodak) and the place dogs have always had in my life (grrl). Besides the obvious gender thing, 'grrl' is also a brief tip o' the hat to my 4 year enlistment in the Marine Corps.

My avatar is a 'brown-eyed' Susan, which I have always maintained were named after me!
