I'm certain rev's video will be fantastic, but I did have this video bookmarked for easy description of making a welt opening. Keep in mind this is for diapers so it is a big opening. You can use the same technique but make it smaller for a buttonhole. I find that when sewing buttonholes on easy to tear fabric it is best to have the welt fabric touching the button (welt should be tear resistant), so the folding up/down of the fabric before stitching parallel lines is actually well worth it.

I've used a short section of grossgrain (about 1 1/2") sewn to netting as the "patch". Worked well for me. Be sure to sear the ends.

Welt pockets are much the same as a buttonhole. There are a couple of of differences largely based on size. I was not able to deal with her style... she drove me bonkers. But that's me. I also can't understand the use of a pocket in diapers. But again.... that's my problem. and it's been 17 years since diapers were a part of my life. Maybe grands... if they ever come along with explain that.

Great scott...who has a clear workspace? I thought that was a leveling ground for us all, that we never had adequate workspace...
Who out there has adequate workspace, and why are you not kickin our butts in the DIY?

I recently moved the office and the workroom. The work table is covered with all the stuff that should be on shelves. Sorry to disappoint you. I have pretty much all the gear I need. The last project I did was an Inverness Cloak (read Sherlock Holmes). But that's not hammock related so I haven't put pics up. I am going to make another one out of wool. But I need to get things straightened away.
