    REI Flash mod - Reflectix?

    Just got back from REI today, and debated between the softness of the Flash 18, or the harder backing of the Flash 22 - the Flash 22 won. I think the pockets on the side are great, and cover for the top is cool with the pouch.

    My question is, I am thinking replacing, or even adding, to the back plastic a layer of reflectix. May keep my water bladder colder, or insulate from freezing.

    If I go the route of replacing to get the softeness of Flash 18, would the reflectix make my back sweat more or would the fabric prevent that?

    Has anyone added, or made a cozy, for your water bladder. I have a platypus 3L.

    Thoughts?

    Platypus used to sell such a cozy for their water bladders. More of a reflective cloth than mylar (like reflectix).

    Reflectix will increase sweat if there's little or nothing between it and you.

    Yes I have, and a kitchen garbage bag for fording... just do it...
    There was an Old Man with a owl,
    Who continued to bother and howl;
    He sat on a rail, And imbibed bitter ale,
    Which refreshed that Old Man and his owl

    yes I did for my camelback a couple years ago and have used it a LOT and it does help keep the water cooler for substantially longer. I basically made an envelope for it to slide into. Keep in mind that you need to allow room for it to expand when filled with water. I blew mine up with air so I could make it to the expanded size. anyway just a thought.
