Just a quick question---with a sewn channel type hammock, how many different ways are there to whip the ends? Also, what are the advantages to each type?
FYI: If you want to know what type a certain bear is, sneak up behind it and kick it. Then,
run like crazy and climb up a tree. If the bear climbs the tree and eats you, it's a black
bear. If the bear just pushes the tree over and eats you, it's a grizzly bear : )

If you are sewing a channel in the end, I would assume that you are going to run a cord through it an simply cinch up the hammock end into a ball. The only way you can affect the outcome, is to cut the end on some particular shape. I have tried this with a few different shapes and none came out to my liking, but that's not an excuse for others to keep trying!!
If you truly want to whip the end, you don't need to sew a channel. Then, you can whip it an infinite number of ways. JustJeff's site www.tothewoods.com shows the basic idea of whipping. Then, you can try your own variations.
