BMBH ultralight with pad

I just ordered a BMBH UL from Jacks r Better and i was wondering if anyone has used a pad with the ultralight model since they removed the second layer for inserting the pad. I'm planning on purchasing an UQ before cooler weather kicks in but i was wondering if i could just slip a torso length CCF pad under me and stay semi-comfortable until i purchase the UQ. Also what degree UQ would i need while thru hiking the AT? Thanks guys

A pad would work, if you don't move around a lot. There's not a lot of room in the middle area to keep a pad in place as this is a somewhat shallow hammock. Pads work, but there's a reason UQ's came about.

As for the AT, you are going to run across a wide range of temps. It's generally a 6 month hike. Depending on when you start, and what direction, you'll need anywhere from 0deg to nothing for keeping warm.

That is my main concern if the hammock would be deep enough to hold a pad. The hammock will be here Friday i just wanted to know before hand if a pad will at least fit in the thing.

Don't these hammocks actually have a pad pocket? I took this from their product description:

or the Deluxe model is designed with a 26 inch wide pad pocket that will accommodate most camping pads.

The original has a pad pocket, making it the best hammock I have ecer used with a pad.

The UL has NO pad pocket. Rip, that looks like it would work OK with a pad.
