Well if you use a ridgeline rather than putting the tarp on the hammock suspension then that is one of the few directions you don't need a tarp tensioner. JRB and others (maybe Whoopieslings.com too) have self tensioning lines, there are many ways to skin this cat. Long story short, if you put something stretchy somewhere on your tarp lines, it will hold the tension for you as the tarp "relaxes" when it gets wet etc.
    Good luck,

The knot Hennesy uses is a Prussik Knot along with a plastic hook.

The only problem with his design is IMHO the hook is not strong enough. A stronger solution would be tarp flyz by Dutch.

Found a video ont the Prussik Knot, and it is really easy to tie.
What if the plastic hook is replaced with something stronger? Then it would work perfectly...right?

    koffar,

I used the Nite Ize Stainless-Steel S-Biner Size 1. They are small, light, and durable.

The HH system of tarp prussic'd to the hammock suspension is nice and simple but suffers from the tarp going slack when you get into the hammock. It works but just isn't as ideal as it seems, unfortunately.

If you use self-tensioning tie outs on the HH tarp, it solves the problem with the tarp going slack when you get into the hammock.

Tarp hanging is an old issue... The general school of thought is the simplest and tautest, approach is to secure tarp ridgelines to the trees using what ever gear one desires.
