Does anyone know if any of the outfitters here in Southwestern VA carry any hammock gear or accessories? Like Mt. Rogers Outfitters, Sun Dog, Mahoney's even, or anywhere up towards Roanoke? I'm specifically wanting to look at some underquilts.

I'm not sure of any outfitter that you can see an underquilt at up close and personal. My advice unto thee: make a day trip up to the Mount Rogers Winter Hang weekend after next and see plenty of underquilts.

Would be great if I had the time. I work 7 days a week right now. Had a few hours of free time today and was going to run and check one out. I may just have to wait til trail days and see if any hammock vendors show up.
I hate hate hate buying stuff without trying it out first. No money, means I gotta get it right.

Most of the people in these stores working have used hammocks and have a good amount of experience.
They also have ENO product booklets to give you some good ideas... I dunno what it is about looking at a booklet rather than googling an image but it works for me....
There's a few of us down this way. I only have 3 UQs, but if you're anywhere near Radford, I'd be glad to meet up with ya at some point and show you the DIY synthetic side of UQs.

I'm just southeast of Roanoke in Franklin County. Don't know any place that has underquilts arround these parts. I have 2 uqs & 2tqs made by Hammock Gear I would be glad to show you. The best way to see a lot of options would be to go to a group hang if possible.
