Got my first hammock! A Blackbird 1.7 dl

It just arrived today, and I'm going to hang it tomorrow, weather permitting. I had a few questions for the old hands around here:

1. Is it OK to stuff the tarp, or better to fold it, like it was shipped?
2. Will it damage the zipper or anything else if I use a compression sack for the hammock?
3. Is the ridge line a DIY feature? I imagine there are threads and videos showing how to set one, but if you can recommend the right line, that'd be a great help.

The compression sack is just to save space -- I'll still keep the hammock in the double-ended stuff sack and put everything in a compression sack.

The older I get, the more jaded I become. I haven't been excited about Christmas since I was a kid, but the thought of hanging this thing tomorrow stirs up those old memories. I think we're gonna have a great spring.

You may already know this, but remember to hang the foot end of the hammock a few inches higher than the head end. The footbox natually lowers your legs so hanging the foot end a few inches higher actually keeps you level. If your feet are too low you will tend to feel more calf pressure.

You've just purchased the Cadillac of hammocks....once you've found your sweet spot, you'll never want to hang in another hammock. Enjoy!!!!

I've had mine for a few weeks now, and initially had the same questions. +1 on what has been said already. I also found that the BB stuffed in it original sack is a bit loose, but fits in and fills the dead space in your pack better than if it has been compressed into a firm package. If you are considering switching to an adjustable ridge line, then the BB comes with a ridgeline that has been set to a length that suits most people. If you switch to a adjustable RL, the bug net may sag if it's shorter than stock length, or worse still, it may stretch and rip the net if your RL is too long.

I would just hang and enjoy.

OK, thanks! I was thinking about an adjustable ridge line, but when I saw the build quality of this hammock, I began to doubt whether I'd gain anything by tinkering with Brandon's design.
