    Cave Hang

I got a few buddies together this weekend to go to a cave I knew of. The three of us took one canoe and one kayak and paddled about 2 miles downriver to the cave. We found it to be rather muddy inside--moreso than I ever expected--so I was super glad to have a hammock.

Having been a rock climber for a few years (but not in the last 5 or so), I pulled out my set of chocks and found a good span to hang from. I used two anchor points on each side, and it held fast all night. I was chilly, but didn't have rocks digging into my back, so that was good.

Wildlife seen in the cave: 1 salamander, 2 bats

Very cool. I can't remember anyone posting about hanging in a cave. Did you have any under insulation?

I used a Thermarest Z-rest pad. I don't have an UQ yet. I also used a DIY TQ made from a fleece blanket. I was rather chilly, as I said, but I attribute that to the inadequate TQ not the pad.

What temps were you facing in the cave?

I've been down to about 50F with a cheap thin fleece blanket - it was tolerable, but I won't be going any lower than that without proper insulation
