Went to my neice's softball tournament last summer and was lucky enough to find trees for Mandydawn and myself to hang in the shade while the tourney was going on. You will not believe the number of people that asked if we would rent the hammocks out to them for the afternoon!!!! Wish we had a couple of DIY's on us so we could have made some cash to cover the gas to and from...........

I've been waiting to see if anyone says anything when Weasel and I have walked across the street to a commercial property that's not being used to setup our hammocks for test runs (like we did this past Saturday, prepping for an upcoming local hang).

So far, no one has come by or said anything.

Out camping, the only comment I've had so far was from one guy who'd come up to the trailhead to get water...when he'd realized that Wes and I were the ones in the hammocks, he commented "Yeah, I was drooling on those when I walked past your campsite."

So of course we invited him in for a closer look.

Yeah, I have a setup on my porch using a vinyl siding support and a 1/2 inch pvc pipe that I have closed behind my storage door - I have a couple engineer buddies and they can't believe that it actually holds me up and hasn't broken the door/lock/frame yet.

I tell them it's magic and if they sit in it then it'll break.

That's just plain funny. I've had law enforcement called on me for a whole bunch of different reasons, but never for looking for a hang spot.

To the question of 'are you weird', of course you are. We don't allow normal people to join here and the ones that do sneak in, get scared and leave quick. But, weird is good and to be embraced. The history books will refer to you as a leading edge outdoorsman. Keep up the good work and we'll have a hammock in every police cruiser before you know it, so they can relax in comfort at the local donut shop after eating too many French crullers and jelly donuts.

I was testing a hammock step up at a local park and I had one lady approach me and ask if I was part of the "occupy _insert place_" movement and if the local park was going to be the next site.

Maybe we should have an "occupy Wall Street" with hammocks event.

Only occupying I want to do with my hammocks is occupying a nice quiet spot in the woods...away from crowds.

I may have to run with that idea on the next trip report.

I like the idea of quickly "occupying" an area with hammockers.

We've got an upcoming KC area hang...might be cool to see if I can get a fast, real time vid where everyone comes in and sets up hammocks/camp as quickly as they can...LOL!

Would be funny to see the place go from empty to fully built up in about 2 minutes.

I think I'm gonna suggest this for a Saturday afternoon activity!
