I fell for it too. I was wondering why Grizz would be going to claytor after how well he can sew and engineer cool things. Great job Grizz, my question is how much math did you use to figure this hammock out .

Well done Grizz.... a wonder of hammock technology.
I really like the stick and loop idea on the top of the bug net. Gonna do that to mine... today.

Don't worry, I'm sure Grizz will give us all the gory math details in his instructional posts.

Great job, Grizz. I don't know how you find the time! You haven't built yourself a space-time machine as well, have you? Did you uncover a wormhole in your back yard when you were working on your retaining wall? Or do you just not need sleep?

Good job Grizz... I don't know what to say. Claytor to Bridge to... ? What else does it do? Throw down an Oil slick? A Smokescreen? 00Grizz.

With those spreader bars I can see Grizz working out a souped up version of a Hammock Swinging Apparatus.

First off, beautiful work as usual Grizz. Your designs never cease to impress me. I got to try Mule's DIY Claytor this past weekend at the RRG hang out. I was very impressed with the comfort of the hammock, as well as the workmanship.

That's not entirely true. I do have a DIY Bridge Hammock that is about 95% finished. The only thing that is left to be done is to add the mounting system for the spreader bars and the only reason that I have not done that is I am waiting to see how the tent pole spreader bars work out. From the pics of your Claytor/Bridge hybrid, they seem to be working fine.

To be honest, there are a couple of other reasons that I have not pushed myself to complete my DIY Bridge. The issues with the spreader bars and fitting under a standard tarp was one of the first things that made me shy away from a bridge hammock.

Strike two was the used JRB BMB hammock I picked up to try out. To be bluntly honest, I just did not like it. The hammock was comfortable but the shoulder squeeze issues were far to prominent. It made me feel very claustrophobic. The hammock also felt like it was going to flip when I was getting in and out and it was very hard to turn over or rearrange myself in the hammock. I also like to spread out a little in my regular hammocks, kinda forming a "4" with one leg straight and one leg bent and out to the side. This position seems all but impossible in the Bridge.

I will still finish my DIY Bridge, but I don't see me using it in a backpacking setup, unless there a major difference in the squeeze from the BMB. If I remember correctly Grizz, your Bridge Hammock that I tried at the first RRG hang out, had a lot less shoulder squeeze, so there still may be hope.

Aww, you had me going too. I even suspected there'd be a twist but didn't see that coming. As with most great ideas, it seems so obvious after the fact. Great work, as usual, I look forward to your hybrid instructions. I am still working on my bridge but will catch up to you innovators some day!

Wow, nice job! That thing looks like an aircraft carrier compared to my Claytor! Good luck with it, Grizz.
