on every national and international forum I participate on, they have regional sections. why not this one? not complaining, just curious.

You do have a point, would be a good way to get in contact with local hangers
It was suggested before to help organize group hangs and such. I personally think its a good idea, but the powers that be have different thoughts. I also dont really have a problem with the current format ether... So I guess my opinion is that its is for sure MAYBE a good idea.
Regional Forums are a good idea, but not always. On some sites I visit I go only to my Region and ignore the rest. On here I read the posts no matter where they come from. I just finished reading the one about the Algonquin Park canoe trip. Great story, with great pics. I really like reports with pics, and would probably miss a lot of nice ones if this site went Regional.
It doesn't take long for the posts to build up if one is gone even for a couple of days. Maybe as much as a dozen pages. Would be very easy then to just check your Region, but, one would miss a lot of great posts I'm sure.
Then there is the problem of defining the region. Maryland is closer to NYC than Maine. All one really needs to do a rough approximation about where a trip is planned is to look at the home location of the OP.
Other than local group trip invites I'm not sure what else they would be used for.
Since most area's have 4 or less group trips planned per year they might be pretty empty folders.
Just my $0.02
If one goal is to find hangers in your "region," is there a way to sort the Members List that way? Would partially accomplish the goal another way.
