In normal use lash-it or zing-it is strong enough, but it's well to remember that one of the principal reasons to use a structural ridgeline is to maintain your chosen sag angle in the abnormal situation of having trees farther apart than you would like.

Now to wait on my lash-it to get here and go get some wire. Oh idea my work place is doing a huge addition and there's lots of internet cable going to the trash.

I used piano wire, found at hardware stores and cheap, works great and they have several sizes
Omg so I got a strand of cat 5 wire and and tried to make a bury in this lash-it. Wow this is freaking hard. So I got the wire through the lash-it but couldn't for the life of me get the dam end to go through the bury.

I used floral wire and it worked great.
You need the smallest/stiffest wire you can find. Lash-it/zing-it would not have been my first choice to learn with. It is the hardest to work with do to the small dia.Originally Posted by Desiel

1/8" amsteel is much easier to work with.
I'm always seeing the mantra: "Don't forget the taper" I have no personal knowledge, but does that apply here?

Never heard of a taper.
The hardest part is getting it started. I think they call it- worrying(sp?)
The wire is doubled and the lash-it is doubled. This makes a pretty big bump
to get started between the strands.
Try un-weaving about 1/2" of the end. This might reduce the size of the bump.
Make sure your wire went thru the middle and did no go thru any of the strands.

The taper is required for larger sizes to transition where the buried line ends. It's important because the taper reduces the line stress while maintaining strength. I can't find the source for that right now but I'll look for it later. Basically the weakest part of the line in a whoopie sling, is at the end of the bury. The taper reduces that weakness and maintains strength.
In the case of Zing-it, you're not putting that much stress in the line (at least you shouldn't be exceeding a few hundred pounds) so the taper isn't as necessary. It does, however, make it a little easier to pull the bury through. It also helps to only pull a little at a time, rather bunching up the loose line at once and trying to pull through.
By the way, I stayed in a Hennessy ULBP last night. Holiday Inn Express had no hammocks!
