    The funk

On a recent multi day trip, I couldn't help but notice how badly my down top quilt trapped and amplified my funk from the day. After my three night trip, it smelled like a dog had peed all over my top quilt. I guess I never realized how bad I smelled after a day of hiking. I was totally disgusted with myself.

Any remedies? Besides a scalding hot shower on the trail, I don't see any.

Stay out for a few more days. You stop noticing it around day 6.

Man I tell ya, the "pull the top quilt over your head" option was totally out. I would rather my head freeze off than stick it under there with 'the funk'.

Carry a spare set of clothes for sleeping in and dunk in the stream at midday each day? It'll work in three-season weather in 'Bama; but not true winter, I guess.

Maybe switch to wool instead of synthetics for your clothing? I find that stinks less, even if it does have the "wet sheep" smell to it.

Or do what AS said. Ignore it until you get used to it.

Synthetics really stink up even at the end of day 1.

wool doesnt give off a real stinky odor.

Also, bring a change of clothes for sleeping to help maintain funk levels.

I agree with the concept of sleeping clothes. I sweat alot when I hike, so the PJs not only keep the funk down, but they keep me warm too.

Never tried it, but I've heard good things about throwing a dryer sheet under the quilt to help with the funkiness.

I don't understand how everyone can ignore the obvious. Wash up at the end of the day. Soap and water or clean wipes are an easy solution to this problem.
