    14 day weather trend

    Greetings Everyone

With the days ticking down to this trip, here is a look at the 14 day temperature trend for Dwight, On (closest city to the west gate with weather information).

It appears this Saturday night would be a great day for winter camping.

Just checking in as I haven't posted for awhile. Any idea how many cars the parking lot will hold?

I'm not sure on that. However if the parking lot at Kearney Lake campground fills up, I am told that the Whitefish campground parking lot is a short walk down the road and is normally plowed as well.

Well, one week to go! What time are people planning to arrive. With so many people I guess it's fine to just depart in small groups and we can all meet up at the destination.

I know I plan to get there by 10AM (parking lot at Kearney Lake). Not too early, but early enough to get to the destination, setup camp and do camp chores before the sun sets.

Obviously those that have further to travel, departing in smaller groups through out the day will work too. Everyone knows the general area that we will be in, so it shouldn't be too hard to find one another.

    Cheers

I just returned from a cottage near the park. We snowshoed into the south end of the park, up the York river to "The Gut". There is lots of snow, at least knee deep everywhere. I can't comment on ice thickness, as we stayed off the lakes.

Houston, we have a parking problem

    Greetings Everyone

I have received word from a member of wintertrekking.com, who did some recon on the parking this past weekend, that there is no plowed parking areas at Kearney Lake campground and Whitefish campground. He did report that there is plenty of plowed parking at the Bat Lake trail.

The person camped along the (Track &tower trail/Old Railway Bike Trail) about 1km down and found lots of trees and places to camp. He parked by the garbage dump area in the Mew Lake campground. The parking lot for Bat Lake is literally across the highway from the Mew Lake campground entrance. So it looks like a bit of shuttling of people and gear will be necessary. However, this is going to be necessary since there is no other plowed parking area for the amount of people that area coming.

So based on this information, I am suggesting we take the recommendation and move the camp location and parking area as described above.

So for those that are going still going, please chime back in for this change of venue.

    Thanks

    Brian
