Has anyone slept with a pad and an underquilt to try to push the rating.

Recent thread, and probably more in the 'bottom insulation' forum.
Short answer....yes

DOWNTOWN BROWN!!!!
For years.
I like a light load, so it seems I'm always pushing the temp ratings in order to keep the load lighter. Warmer = more weight, normally. I'm a warm sleeper, so not too much to worry there.
I've taken a 3/4 DL IX UQ down to a rainy 37F. Don't know too many folks who've used this below 50F. How's that for pushing it?
Yes, I have. My report is located here.
Short version: even a sit-pad-sized piece of foam can make a big difference (10 to 15 degrees) if you put it underneath your torso, and it's easier (for me) to handle in the hammock than a larger piece. It tends to move less.
Yea I sleept out side in 10 degrees with wind and snow with a 0 degrees bag
It's common. If you get out there on a test hang or the weather hits colder than expected, you throw in a pad or something else to bump up the warmth.
I can go to about 10F with my UQ, but with a pad too, I've gone below OF and haven't gotten cold yet.
