Heck, you'll probably only need shorts and a tee shirt. haha

    r-man, If your schedule changes, I have a Western Mtn'eer 5 degree
down SB extra wide and long. That will slide over your hammock like a peapod. No TQ/UQ required.

I will be attending the Colorado Saddle Maker's Winter Seminar in Moab that weekend. Since that is my occupation and I hold the office of Vice-President, I suppose I had better attend.....still

To all lucky enough to join O&B and food, it is a beautiful spot! Since O&B showed me that spot I have been trying to figure out a way to get back there. This will be a perfect laid-back weekend. Go for it and have a wonderful time. I will be thinking about you (trying to keep the jealously down to a minimum).
Your company will be sorely missed waddy.
I've always enjoyed sharing a campfire with you.

It really is a special place in winter. I can't get enough of it and
a great place for new to winter hangers since one could bail to their vehicle
if they weren't having a good time.

    A few more teasers:

Just wanted to bump this back to the first page in case any other front range winter hangers would like to join us. The trip is still 10 days out.
    I have 3 confirmed and 1 maybe.
Not sure what's happened to all our new Colorado hangers haven't seen any posts lately.

A few stats to consider when packing for this trip.
I believe day time temps will be between 33F-40F
and evening temps mid to low 20's There is a good chance of wind.
I would pack more for wind than super cold. We're just not getting the winter we had last year.

    thanks

OutandBack, refresh my memory, it that the place we day hiked to last July?
I will not be attending, I have run short of hang passes with my wife.

Weather is looking mighty fine for this weekend
    Highs 35-42F
    Lows 16-23F
Not much wind which would allow us to hang with an awesome view of the South Park valley.

Hi Walking Bear, Yes that is the place we day hiked to last year.
It's one of my favorite hanging spots. Esp in winter. Well marked trails, good parking.
Every season this place offers something different to see.

O&B and Food, I don't know if yall are much on coffee but my wife and I roast our own coffee and I was thinking about bringing getting the jet boil french press attachment for my SP700 so we can all have some good coffee while we are out there.

Also, O&B, I will be getting there fairly late Friday night so I just want to make sure I will be going to the right place. Will it be a pain for you and Food if I don't get there until 10ish?

I absolutely love good coffee. The darker the roast the better for me.

    10ish is fine.
From the parking lot look West and you should see my fire.
It's not very far from the car the first nite.

Do you still need a tarp and supplemental UQ?
I have them packed and tether to my pack so I don't forget them.

Perfect I will bring plenty of coffee.

I will definitely need the UQ. I will be cutting it close on finishing my tarp so if you can bring that just in case I would really appreciate it.

No problem, I probably will use that tarp if you don't.
I prefer sylnylon to cuben this time of year. They're quieter in the wind.

In case there is not much snow to melt for extra water I'll have 3 gals in the car so we can top off before hiking up to the overlook for nite Saturday nite.

Don't know how I missed this thread. Not enough time left to get myself together for it. Oh well, looks like I'm going to miss a good one.

    Looking forward to the report.

This event has been on my mind a lot the past few weeks, mostly thinking "how can I make this work?" Sadly, I don't think I can this time either.

Part of it is gear, and I've noticed how generous everyone has been with offers to lend, but sadly it's not just hammock gear, but also things like boots and jackets. Combine all that with my newbishness and that I have my 14 year old son this weekend (and he has even less cold weather gear than I do - I blame his mother) just makes it all seem insurmountable.

Come spring/summer/fall though, and I'm all over it, and hopefully I'll be able to use that time to build my winter gear supply and join everyone for one or two of these next year.
