Weekend Hang 2-Miles above sealevel South Park, CO

This is not an official Colorado Winter Hang.

Now that the snow has arrived to Colorado I am thinking of doing a weekend hang in South Park Colorado.

It will basically be this trip. see picture link

    http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?s...1&l=b64b25b94c

    January 27th-29th. Friday thru Sunday

Friday- hang in closed campground next to Kenosha Pass parking lot.
This would allow you to arrive late(even after dark) after work on Friday.
Plenty of fire wood will be provided so you'll just need to set up your hammock that evening.

Can't miss this parking lot it's at the peak of Kenosha Pass (Trail Head to Colorado Trail seg 6) If you look West you are looking at the campground entrance gate.

Saturday move camp to the South Park Overlook. (not an official name)
~1 mile hike West on CT and 1/4 mile South off the trail.
This camp is woods camping no facilities just one awesome view of South Park valley.

Saturday will be a free for all.
Day hike the area (see pictures) Hike East on CT seg 5.
Hike West on CT seg 6.
Hang out in camp and whittle with your knives.

Sunday get up and head home or hang out and do some more exploring.

Hope you can join me would love the company.
    O&B

Recommended gear for any new hangers not sure what to bring:

    Any hammock will do
    20 degree TQ and UQ
Tarp to block the wind and heck it might even snow on us.
Extra warm outer clothing for hanging out in camp around the fire.
Ski wear works, big down jackets that kinda stuff.
Good warm hat and gloves. Hat and gloves to sleep with.

Pulk? I don't think the snow will be that deep. I won't be bringing mine.
Snow shoes- bring them if you got them, not required
Good warm hiking boot a must, yaktrak's optional

Anyone needing an item or two?

I have the following items I could loan:

    TtoT switchback hammock
2 HH Explorer hammocks one without netting

OES delux tarp with grizz beak (doors for one end)

WM 5 degree sleeping bag that can be used as a pea pod
    over your hammock(no TQ/UQ required)

30 degree 3/4 length down UQ that could be stacked over your summer UQ

Assorted alky stoves, Ti cook pots

O&B I would love to be there just have to nail down the schedule. Anyway I could have dibs on the UQ to borrow and possibly the tarp if I end up being able to come? I will hopefully have my tarp done by then but no promises on DIY schedules. This sounds like a great time.

You are one cruel, CRUEL hammock man!!! That's like showing a dope addict a year's supply of his favorite dope.....just out of his possible reach!

I will be attending the Colorado Saddle Maker's Winter Seminar in Moab that weekend. Since that is my occupation and I hold the office of Vice-President, I suppose I had better attend.....still

To all lucky enough to join O&B and food, it is a beautiful spot! Since O&B showed me that spot I have been trying to figure out a way to get back there. This will be a perfect laid-back weekend. Go for it and have a wonderful time. I will be thinking about you (trying to keep the jealously down to a minimum).
Love your enemies, but keep your gun oiled!
