I am very new to hammock camping and got an ENO single nest as my first hammock. Went out and bought the profly for rainy days and don't know what to think about. What do folks think about this tarp? Seems that the ENO tarps have a crumby reputation. Wished I had searched here first before pulling the trigger. Any thoughts, advice, and suggestions are welcomed and appreciated.

I don't think there is a problem with them keeping rain off you. I. Think the main issue most people have is that they are heavier and bulkier than a lot of the tarps the cottage vendors offer. From what I've seen they're still good tarps, though. Ultimately, if it gets you on the trail and keeps you dry, it's a good tarp. Just my $.02
I like the ease of use and it will definitely get me out on the trail and hanging. In all honesty, I've only set it up once. Thinking about going camping Monday and there is a chance of rain. That will give me some real world experience with it. I'll post how it went when I get in on tuesday.
Nothing wrong with it. It will still do the job. It's weight and coverage are two things that some find lacking. It is heavier than silnylon and there isn't as much side coverage for wind or driving rain as other options as well.Proper placement and set up are important.

I have a Pro fly as part of a One Link system. I've used several times in rainstorms with blowing rain and so far it has not let me down. It is shorter from ridgeline to edge than many other tarps, so as many here will tell you site selection is the key. All of the times I've been out I had some natural protection on the windward side.
Like you I like how easy it is to use. Other tarps may be as easy also, I haven't been to a group hang to check any out. Hope to go to the Mid Tn hang in Feb. to learn from some long time hangers.

I usually use a lower setup if I'm expecting cold/rain/wind (so it's really close to my face) but I have it cranked down hard to have it as taught as possible.
All in all - it's not bad - got it for Christmas and hasn't let me down yet....
the gear guide and kelty noahs are a bit cheaper. if price is an issue but the eno tarps are fine. i just prefer a BIG tarp i loeve my oes 4 season tarp my wife loves her kelty 9 set up diamond like the fast fly. there are a lot of choices take your time you will find what you want and what you need.
I have a dry fly that I never used and after reading the forums I want to switch if they will let me (or contact me back for that matter) Do you think that I should?
I got it in october as part of the one link system. I could not use until Christmas. (Christmas present, deal with my wife)
Do you all think I should try to or just dont mess with it?

I have a couple of eno tarps and have had no problem with them. They are my 3 seasons tarps and for the nastys I use the Kelty noahs tarp 12 which i set up and fold like an A frame tent.
