I'm in if the date is right. There are supposed to be a lot of Bass in that lake too. Might make a nice dinner!

We just need to agree on if we want to do a short BP trip or just drive somewhere and post up.

Map of Route into Murray's Lake

I took a photo of the topographic map showing the roads into Murray's Lake (see attachment). From Atlanta, take I-75 North to the exit for route 411. Take 411 north to Cisco. There is a small brown church at the intersection of 411 and Old Highway 2. Turn right onto Old Highway 2 then follow the route in according to the map photo. it is drivable in a normal car. You'll eventually get to a split in the road. Turn right at the intersection (there is a sign for Murray's Lake). The road you're turning on is West Cowpen Road. I placed a pencil tip on the map showing the lake.

Could you attach a larger file for the map? Couldn't make much of it since it was so small.

Here is a larger photo of the Lake Murray's route. The pencil tip marks the lake.

Well, most people seem to being saying either the 1st or 3rd weekend in February. I can't do the 1st, so how about the 3rd: Feb 17-19? We need to vote on locations. Here are the nominations I remember.
    1. Murrays Lake; looks like a potential location with easy access and possibly some good fishing. Is there any hiking there as well?
    2. Panther Creek; another nomination for location with easy access, waterfalls, and possibly some fishing.
    3. Anywhere along the AT; I would prefer somewhere close to Neels Gap so I can stop by a local store that sells ULA equipment and take a look at the Circuit (considering upgrading to one).
    4. The Chattoga River; always a great location with plenty of great hiking, fishing, some nearby waterfalls, and plenty of hanging sites.

Vote now or throw in another nomination!
"The Road goes ever on and on,
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can.
    Pursuing it with eager feet
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say."

I'm going to push for the AT, only because there is nothing as beautiful as the trail in GA in my opinion. There's a couple of places north of Neel's that are are super awesome. Clearings along ridge lines where we could post up for the night.
