    Using Reflectix

I'm looking for info, ideas and/or plans for making bottom insulation out of Reflectix. I'd like to eliminate my closed-cell foam pad from my cold weather equipment, and this material seems like it could offer interesting options.

I would probably put the Reflectix liner (?) in between my jerry-rigged double hammock.

I am with you guy on that. I have been looking at other peoples ideas. I found that if you use and recycle old blanks or comfortable old ones an cut them to you size place a space blanket and a lite weight tarp tape them with duck tape to hold them in place. Then use a rip stop shell. That is the way to go. Save the tabs and sides to tightem up when cold. Just do what I have done and look around and make your own idea.

I can't speak to the warmth differences between the two materials (CCF and Reflectix), but I would see the reflectix as possibly slightly more comfortable/ warm initially due to it's flexibility in relation to most CCF pads. However, this also means that the reflectix will "hug" your body more closely, possibly causing much more condensation. You;ll be warm, but you'll also be wet in the morning. Just a thought.

I use reflectix as a wind screen, pot cozy, and a sit pad/ foot pad. It's definitley handy stuff to have around.

I really like reflectix, and use it to insulate the windows in the RV. It makes a huge difference in really cold weather.

In the hammock, I've had more success with a ccf pad, but that's just me...

Reflectix is used just like a ccf pad....cut the size you want and slip it between the layers of your "double hammock".

I'm guessing that you would want a barrier between you and the refletix. Maybe a cheep fleece blanket sewn up as a pocket and the reflectix slid in between??? Just a thought..

I'm pretty sure the CCF is warmer. For houses, spray on CCF is far better than reflectix, but also more expensive. CCF usually stays put in a double layer hammock, whereas reflectix slides more.

I tired CCF between the two layers, very uncomfortable for me. I use Reflectix now to add warmth to my 3 season Yeti, and I prefer it greatly. It forms to your body and is very comfortable, I dont even notice I have it under me...
