Alright... im about to purchase a bunch of webbing to make my straps from... i think im going to do 15 foot per strap... just wondering if this sonds like a reasonable length or if i should shorten/lengthen them

Really depends on the size of the trees avaible. With that said you should be well covered. My straps and slings I've got about 11'-12'.
I did web and buckle on my Eno and used 10 ft straps and it worked well for me. I think the trees get pretty big up where you are at, so 15 ft might be better. Have you considered going to whoopies instead?

I tried out 15 feet of webbing on my hammock and found that 90% of the time there was five feet of webbing dangling on the ground. I'm back to 12 feet. I'm in the mid-atlantic though, so the trees may be smaller here. I don't have experience in MN.
