It is much thinner/flimsier than I expected. I was expecting something like a thin thermarest. Hopefully climashield works though.

Unfortunatley my winter hang was postponed, as my buddy thinks there is not enough snow for snowshoeing. So maybe next month.

Maybe I will ty a backyard/stealth hang to test them out though.

You will probably need more insulation than the Z-Liner. It is nice, but only gets you down so far.

I have a 30F rated AHE Climashield-based UQ. When I double it and double it over again, I get an estimated 5" = 125mm of loft. (Oh, just as specs for 5oz/yard Climashield say!!!)

From measurement of the pocket pleating and my experience with cheap pillows, 2 1/2" of insulation will fit in each of the Clark pockets. And I suspect that Climashield pads twice the thickness of Clark Z-liners would take you comfortably to below 20F, unless the Z-liners use thinner insulation.

Why doesn't Clark make the Z-Liner thicker? For bulk, cost, and the same reason there are 40F sleeping bags and quilts: Because most people camp much more when there are leaves as well as needles on trees.

As far as the main part of the pocket is concerned, you could probably fit 4 or more zliner pads in. There is lots of extra room.

The problem is the mouth/velcro area. Its a bit tight to get both layers of zliner into the velcro area and have the corners of the pockets still close right.

It would probably be easily fixable with just a small strip of velcro (double wide) which could be used to offset so that the pockets were attached to the strip, but not actually trying to fit in the mouth area directly

The foot liner is also an issue as there would not be a way to attach a second layer of footpad without glueing additional velcro to the original pad.

Then why double the triangle portion? A second pair breathable wool socks may provide more comfort for the feet than more insulation there.
