    Reflectix as Under Insulation?

I don't have a UQ yet, has anyone ever tried this tucked in between the layers of a BB double layer to replace a UQ?

What temp would it be good to and keep you warm?

There are lots of posts on using pads, including reflectix. Part of the issue with reflectix is that it will trap moisture...

That said, the Hennessey jungle hammock, if I remember right, uses reflectix from the factory...

    ah.. Here it is: http://hennessyhammock.com/catalog/insulation/

I haven't used it, so temps would be just a guess..

With a good tarp to block wind one will get you around 45*. 2 layers around 30* depending on you. If your a sweaty type rftx might not be the way to go. But its cheap to try out. I personally love the stuff and use it for all sorts of things.

I've taken it down to about 38* when combined with a wally world blue pad - take the reflextix, spray on some 3M adhesive, join the two together and you've got an instant 2-layer pad. Sweating is a problem, and you'd need to add some sort of shoulder protection like a Speer Segmented Pad extender or SPE.

RFLTX can be found in rolls wide enough to cover the shoulders. I forget the exact width I use. But it covers quite well with no spe.

I just got back from a hang on the mountian and we hit a low of 19 degrees and all I used is my reflectix pad and a bivy, I was warm, however I do plan on buying an under quilt because it it a little difficult to stay on top of the pad.
