+1 Also check out Shug's videos on the YouTube.
And, sorry for the shameless self promotion all. I really don't mean to be plugging myself, I think that has become a lazy answer for me. I've been respectfully sanctioned.

It is easier to STAY WARM than it is to GET WARM, REMEMBER THIS!
in winter camping remember that like it was/is/will be gospel.
If I can add to it I'd say don't get cold-no matter what.
Just watched the first two videos in Shug's catalogue. Interesting stuff already. Especially the whoopy slings. Is that a line that has been threaded through itself? Does anyone know if they are available in the uk? I should maybe be asking in the other sections.
UK hammocks offer them. You could also get your hands on some amsteel and make them yourself as well. They're pretty easy and fun to make.
Don't let life get in the way of living.
Woodland, a couple ideas for you.
The book is great - Amazon.
You can use an inflatable ground pad, deflate it 1/2 way. If you have a 2 layer hammock, put it between the layers to keep it from moving. You can also use a cheap closed cell pad to start off. Maybe use it going across your shoulders as add on 'wings'.
UK Hammocks now offers Warbonnet products. You might check out a BlackBird 1.1d & a Yeti... Both are great products and will last you for years.
