Well after allot of fiddleing around I have confirmed that even the seemingly lightest addition of insulation between the hammock amd the uq will cause sagging and gaps. Even a neoair while not causing sagging would peek out pf the uq and cause gaps.
Bigger shockcord!! Short lengths and small cord for suspension. The small shockcord will not hold any more than the UL UQ's, hence gaps and CBS. Keep fiddling!

another caution about creating needless airgap. The underquilt works best when in direct contact with the bottom of the hammock; You can add a pad as long as everything stays together but the suspension on an UQ isn't designed to do anything other than hold the quilt against the bottom of the hammock; hence the development of double layer hammocks. I would think foilage would be counter productive. Before I'd do that, i would pitch my rig low and then built up foilage around the outside, not between the hammock and quilt.

Chiming in late here, but I am new to hammocks, and I've been playing around with staying warm.
I'm using GrandTrunk's SkeeterBeater. I discovered if I flip the thing upside down (so the mosquito netting is under the hammock) and sleep with the bottom side up, I can slide a ThermaRest Z-light into it. It stays in place no matter how much I toss and turn, and it butts up tight to my...er...butt.
