    Wooden Arc Stand

So my spam filter didn't stop an Amazon email this morning...interesting, because normally I don't see all that crap.
Perhaps it was coincidental that the message contained a link to a Wooden Arc Hammock Stand (and hammock) for $220.

Seriously considering this, as I have no trees that are close enough to hang from in the back yard. Anyone else have something like this? I'd probably PIF the hammock and just use my new favorite DangerBird!

It's made for a spreader bar hammock, and most likely isn't tall enough to properly hang a gathered end hammock.

I agree. However, if you buy it and have it sent to me, I'll gladly test it for you!

This is correct. I actually found one in a shop out here and asked if I could bring a hammock in to try it. Results were not positive.
Maybe for a Nano, or for someone that likes the hammock strung fairly tight, but for the more traditional hangs, it is like you say; just not tall enough.

One of the many similar stands (all the same and re-branded?) specs the arch at 10' long and 3' high.

This is the way I went. Costs less (not as pretty though) and works like a champ with the WBBBs and Traveler. Takes a bit of learning in the set up but works. It is the backyard lab and my Kelty 12x12 and Traveler is on it as we speak.

To make it taller? Any suggestions?

Probably means this cool stand wouldn't work!

Minimum quantity of 60 means Group Buy time!

But my favorite, and a DIY requires bamboo.

The only bamboo I have is split cane, 8' 5wt. custom rod!

Yes, you would need to increase the vertical height to at least 6 or 7' in order to get a good sag between two points so close together. I have had to do the same with my metal hammock stands. Although, it's a lot easier to take a metal stand to a muffler shop and say "I need a piece to make this piece X' high" than it would be to have some lumber crafted and attached. Not as much fun, but way easier.
