    Newbie looking for advice

I would like to make a hammock...I have no clue where to start. I have experience with heavy duty sewing, ie slings, runner, harness, quickdraws for climbing. The idea hammock would have room for two people, load would be 350-400lbs. Can anyone point me toward a good pattern to follow? thanks

There is not pattern. It's basically just a rectangular piece of fabric hemmed on all four sides.

Welcome to the forums! You've certainly got a leg up on the whole DIY thing, seeing as how you know how to sew.

Two people in one hammock is a tough one with most patterns. Even with a hammock that is advertised as being made for two, it ain't really happening, in my experience. The way my wife and I sleep is side by side hammocks. It might be possible with a bridge hammock which is closer to the cross bar, backyard hammocks in concept, but I don't have any personal experience with them. Perhaps Grizz or Dutch or one of the other bridge hangers could offer more insight.

Just Jeff's site is the place, as HC4U said. Check the gallery here for pictures and ideas (Grizz has an awesome new hammock setup) And when you get your first one done, post pics!!! I'd like a hammock that would comfortably support two people - maybe I could get my wife to understand my obsession! Of course, then maybe she'd want to go camping with me more often. Hmmm, might have to rethink that.
