Throwing this out there........anyone have a cot that isn't 100 pounds and would hold big old me? I have the wife ready to go on this one, but looks loike I wont get the green light from the doctor for hammocking. I'd love to go along but am having trouble figuring out sleeping arrangements for me. The ground is out for sure.

    Fingers assuming crossed position.

My work schedule is kind of unpredictable that far out, but I will attend if able. If you could, sometime before the hang, please post some specifics on where everyone is meeting up. I know theres several entrances and trailheads in that area and I'd hate to show up at the wrong one.

EH, last year the Friday afternoon arrivals headed east on the trail across the road from the parking lot approximately 1/2 mile to a good hang area for the evening. We then met back at the parking lot Saturday morning for the days hike. I believe we've decided on the north loop this year and splitting it up over Saturday and Sunday morning. The FT map show 6.2 miles to Blue Sink from the parking lot and 7.5 miles from Blue Sink back to the parking lot. Our Saturday leg last year was between 8 and 9 miles and was a little bit much for some of us oldtimers. Maybe Flackfizer can post his map of the hike this year.

TFCRick, Have you located a cot yet? I'll be backpacking this trip and you're welcome to use my 'walker' to get it and any other gear to the site. Hope you can make it.

Olddog you are awesome!! I have landed a cot and am 98% on making the trip. Are you sure you won't need it for your stuff?

Ok thanks guys, Ive got a pretty good notion on where that is. I'll keep my fingers crossed that I'll be able to make it. This would be my first group hang so I'm pretty excited about it.

I will scan up my map and post it. It is pretty easy though. We can just cross the road from the parking lot and head down the Blue Blaze until we hit Orange, and then turn left. That route will take us past the river and let us camp before the sink holes. My guess is that it is about 15 miles in two days, but I need to get the map out.
Hedgehogs! Why can't they just share the hedge?

Less than a month away and other than making arrangements for our Saturday morning meet up not a lot of planning to do. I plan on going in Friday afternoon to the same location we used last year. Across the road from the parking lot and .5 miles in. If we decide to go CCW on the north loop the Saturday arrivals can meet there for the start. The Saturday night hang will be somewhere around the river. Then the Sunday morning hike out. How does this sound to all?
