Heading to Thunder Swamp Trail 4-14-12

Have the first trip of the year coming up next week. Taking friday off and leaving early in the morning. Testing the new hammock, doing a bit of fishing and spending some much needed time with my brother and my childhood buddy. Can't wait to go and just get away from the daily grind. No cell phones, no computers and best of all no work.
Nothing better than hanging from a tree drinking a home brew.

Are you doing the whole loop or just part? Where are you starting and which direction? Enquiring minds want to know.

    Have a great time!

If you haven't been there before be forewarned... it is called a "Swamp" for a very good reason. The trails can be slick as a smelt and the rocks can act like water slide launches. Plus tree roots have been known to take an active role in keeping the trails clear. Even the most sure footed hikers I know have done a face plant on those trails. At least the ROUS's live in the Fire Swamp and not the Thunder Swamp so you should be ok in that regard.

In spite of all.... have a good time.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

We're heading to the northern section (near big bear swamp off flat ridge road). Not planning to do much hiking this time. Mostly just hanging out and relaxing. Went there last year and hiked about 18 miles.
