    I have had the same issue so it's not just you. I just cut back once it got too frayed and started over.

    It really shouldn't matter if it unravels on the end or not. All the taper does is prevent a sudden change in diameter where the bury ends. Whether it stays together or falls apart, it is still going to be constricted in the bury when tension is applied.

    The taper will serve it's purpose of easing the transition and preventing a localized stress on the outer section of rope equally well braided or unbraided.

    Well, I'm glad it's not just me. I now have several ideas to try. Was using a yarn needle and doing it just like the whoopie tutorial, only 4 strands not 6. Will try 3 strands and prolly get the results I am looking for. Oh, this stuff is even tough for a razor blade to cut without a little sawing action, I am impressed.

    Yes it will dull a razor blade fast.
